"Nobles on Wigs and Gowns”

Gentlemen under a solemn call
Who dine and wine in the Bar of the Law
Before the Bench, they stand tall
Pleading the cause of men in open door’

Their language is all Greek to the Lay
Who strive all night and day
Seeking to break the mystery of their wits
Cracking through their words, bit by bit

On their noble heads lies the ‘lying’ stigma
Held highly strong like the Catholic dogma
But the saintly tongue of posterity
Will bear witness to their integrity

Whatever the cascade of reactions
Only the Nobles on Wigs and Gowns
Wear the glory of the ‘Learned’ Crown
Unkingly crown having no reversion
