"On the Letter to the President"

“Before it is too late”,
The weighty Letter says…
What an irony of fate
I see in these days.

Old Chief please wait:
Why make a case
With lips oiled with hate?
Your history has no rays!

The harsh wind I await
Has now blown with trace
And I have seen the state
Of the President’s ass base.

What a mockery of a Nation’s pride
And when shall WE then decide?

"Corrupt Men Call Corruption, Monster"

Corrupt men call corruption, "monster",
Whereas corruption leads their duty roster.
This monster shall their abode infest,
Leaving no room for rest.

For every loot there is a roof,
The Assembly, your shield.
Once you irrigate the field,
There will be no proof.

Where is thy future,
My so-called fatherland?
If yours is in the dark,
What becomes of your children?

"Maiduguri, the City of My Birth"

Maiduguri, the City of my birth.
A serene abode,
More serene than I ever knew.

Maiduguri, once a nest
For troubled birds,
In neighbouring hoods.
But today, a harbour for Evil Forces.

Maiduguri, even with your many flies,
Many flew to your tent.

Your Dogo Yaro trees were shade
But you have chosen bloodshed.

How I looked up to you, Maiduguri,
Like they did Canterbury.
But you have cast me away for good,
Leaving me to brood.

"At Madiba's Funeral"

Those who partied with apartheid
Now pay the biggest tributes.
While a huge Partaker in the struggle
Was given the boot.

Nigeria's disgrace is undeserved
Despite her present unworthy state
Her honour ought to be reserved
At Madiba's funeral.

"Pa Mandela"

Pa Mandela,
You gave Black Race a Name
And your people, a face.

As a child I'd wondered:
What's 27 dark yrs in the deep;
The price of freedom;
The Colour of Honour;
An Image of Respect;
And Flag of Forgivnes?

The answer is in a name,
The name, Madiba!
